Personal Space of China

China is the country with the most population in the world. China's population of 1.37 billion is around 5 times more than Indonesia's population, which is around 258 million people. Besides being a country that has the most population in the world, China is also one of the largest countries in the world with an area of 9,596,960km2. This area makes China the 4th largest country in the world.

Geographically, China is located in the Eastern Asia Continent (East Asia) and is between 18 ° N - 54 ° N and 73 ° East - 135 ° East. China borders Mongolia in the north, while in the south it borders Nepal, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. East of China borders North and West, bordering Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

The population density in China has a great effect on what personal space means to people here. In China, living space is closed. Sometimes the entire generations of families will be living together, eating, sleeping, working, and playing all in the same one room

The country of China has some personal space, that are:
  1. Time zones, if the Indonesian state has three time zones, namely WIB (West Indonesia Time), WIT (East Indonesia Time) and WITA (Central Indonesia Time), it is different from China. Although China has a wider area than Indonesia, it turns out they only have fewer time zones. China only has one time zone, GMT + 8 or better known as Beijing Time or China Standard Time (CST). This is a policy carried out by the Chinese Government.
  2. Chinese tend to feel comfortable standing a little less than one long arm with each other. One and a half to two feet are common. When meeting strangers this distance is farther away
  3. In conversation, there is little or no touch, except with family, close friends or boyfriend or girlfriend relationships. this is very different from brazil people
  4. It is common for women who are friends to hold hands or attach arms when walking.
  5. The Chinese tend to favor direct eye contact over indirect.
  6. Eye contact is considered polite, and when dealing with unfamiliar elder one may lower their head as a sign of respect.
  7. Beckoning or pointing with the index finger is considered bad form.  Using your whole hand, palm flat, is the way to go
  8. Spitting in public after clearing ones throat is quite common
  9. if in Indonesia soldiers use sniffer dogs to help them, it is different with the Chinese state they use geese to help them.
The sniffer dog is usually used to assist in investigating an incident by various police forces in various countries. Because dogs have a very sharp sense of smell to track and are able to provide more accurate instructions. But police in China actually use geese. Goose is considered more sensitive to sharper sounds than dogs. The geese assigned to guard posts function when there is a strange noise such as a theft, the goose will go to the box and give signals to the police where the scene happened.
  10. the Chinese army has a unique habit that is straight pin in the Army collar. Soldiers in China are famous for their firmness and commitment to defend the country to the death. Loyalty is what makes the Army in China always ready to fight and guard the country. One of the attitudes possessed by the Chinese Army is that it always stands tall and the chin is always raised. To always be sturdy, the Soldiers slip a pin on the collar of his shirt which serves to make them look dashing and perfect. Because if they look down a little, they will be pierced by the pin.
